"They make you feel so welcomed. I consider them all friends. I will and do recommend this office to family and friends."

Linda Roylance / Windsor, CA

Is snoring more than just a nuisance for you or another family member? Snoring is a common breathing disorder that occurs during sleep. It’s estimated that 30 to 50 percent of people snore at some point in their lives. However, snoring sometimes is associated with a more serious condition called obstructive sleep apnea. This condition is characterized by repeated stoppages in breathing, each lasting 10 seconds or longer.

Common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea include:

  •     loud snoring
  •     excessive daytime sleepiness
  •     dry mouth or sore throat upon awakening
  •     restless sleep
  •     headaches
  •     irritability, forgetfulness, or inability to concentrate

If you have these indicators, come in for an evaluation. If your bed partner reports that you stop breathing and gasp for air during sleep, you definitely should be evaluated for obstructive sleep apnea.

Fortunately, our dentists can treat this sleep problem, and our staff works hard to make your experience as smooth as possible from start to finish.

We coordinate your sleep testing at home with a headgear device that is simpler than the chest straps or finger sensors typically used in sleep studies. Generally, you wear the device to sleep for approximately two nights.

After analyzing your sleep study results, if needed, we help with the selection, fit and use of a oral appliance that maintains an open and unobstructed airway in the throat when worn during sleep. These custom-made appliances have successfully treated mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. They are more effective than over-the-counter devices. We ensure you know how to use and care for your appliance properly.

Our staff coordinates the medical insurance billing associated with your snoring and sleep apnea treatment.

If you have any concern that your snoring is more than just annoying, please call to schedule an appointment with us.
